Fifty Shades of Jay - Designing my new wardrobe

I’ve been on this weight loss journey for a couple of years now, and it’s been overwhelmingly positive. I have more confidence than ever before, and even though my body isn’t quite where I want it to be, I know that, as long as I keep doing what I’m doing, it’s only a matter of time. There is one con to all of this, however… none of my old clothes fit me anymore!

I’m a big fan of making the most out of a situation, so decided to take the opportunity to but myself a capsule wardrobe for the winter months and redesign my style in the process.

Why I’m Choosing to Wear my Apple Watch Less

Back in September, I did a review of my Apple Watch Series 2. I mentioned in that post that I always felt compelled to wear it, at the expense of aesthetics, due to functionality and the fitness data it collects, which has been amazing for my continued health and weight loss mission. Well recently, with me questioning how invested I am in the Apple ecosystem, I’ve begun to wear my Apple Watch a lot less.

As I said in my review, the Apple Watch is an amazing piece of tech, and I do love it. It’s also really helped to change my life and get me to a point where I’m relatively happy with my body image and my general state of health, so I’m still glad I own it.

Are old digital cameras still viable in 2018? - Olympus PEN E-PL1

Moving on from the incredibly large Canon EOS 1D Mark III in my series of old cameras and their viability in 2018, brings us to the Olympus PEN E-PL1. Launched in 2010, it’s safe to say that this camera changed my life!

Back then I was using both a Hasselblad H3DII and the aforementioned Canon EOS 1D Mark III for all my work photography, but I wanted something for ordinary every day photos. Hipstamatic was huge at the time for iPhone, but I just wasn’t into using my phone for photography.

Are old digital cameras still viable in 2018? - Canon EOS 1D Mark III

Shortly after becoming a professional photographer, I decided I needed to ‘look more professional’ (I’m far less concerned with what that might mean these days). Anyway, in 2007, the Canon EOS 1D Mark III was released. I used this camera pretty much exclusively until I got a Hasselblad H3DII. These then both became ‘work cameras’ and I would switch between them depending on the job.

Similar to my previous blog about my old Fuji Finepix 2800 Zoom, I thought it would be interesting to see how viable this 11 year old camera is in 2018 for every day Instagram and social media.

New Years Resolution #2 - Become more James Bond

There’s no doubt that James Bond is the quintessential gold standard for men. Men want to be him and women want to be with him. Like most fictional characters, being James Bond is obviously an unattainable goal, but I’ve decided that there’s definitely a few of his traits that I would certainly like to adopt into my own personal character this year.

Whether it’s the current gritty era with Daniel Craig, or any of the previous iterations of the character, James Bond has always maintained a consistent identity. You know who he is, and what he’s about, as well as what he’s capable of.

Pleasingly Priced Peacoat Perfection

I’m very impulsive when it comes to shopping. It’s why I suck at buying things online. I much prefer to wander around aimlessly and then grab something that catches my eye!

I went out last Saturday because I wanted some black leather gloves (turns out, not as easy to get as you might think!). Anyway, I’ve been a bit of a New Look convert of late. My favourite ripped black jeans are from New Look and I wear them all the time! Whilst making a beeline for the accessories rack for some gloves, I caught this Peacoat out of the corner of my eye.
