Fragrance Review - Safari by Ralph Lauren

This was a completely impulse blind buy for absolutely no legitimate reason, but hey, that’s the kind of guy I am. Because of an upcoming trip, the same trip I recently bought my first pair of hiking boots for, I figured I needed a good fragrance for wearing on a hike. Something masculine and classic. Something that wouldn’t be out of place on Indiana Jones. The obvious choice was Safari by Ralph Lauren, so without a second thought, or even looking at any reviews, I ordered it!

Now in reality, it’s probably better to go without fragrances when in nature, so I probably won’t be spraying it overly liberally in an effort to avoid leaving a cloud of Ralph behind me as I wander through the forest. To be honest, a good choice for this purpose would be something like Escentric Molecules ‘Molecule 01’, which is supposedly a fragrance that is subtle and mixes with your own pheromones. I don’t have that, and haven’t seen it anywhere to try it, so maybe next time.

Fragrance Review - Dior Fahrenheit

Picked Dior Fahrenheit up at Gatwick Airport en-route to Milan for a photoshoot. There were a few I looked at, including Dior Eau Sauvage and Versace’s The Dreamer, but those are fresh, and given that we’re rapidly approaching the end of summer, I wanted something a little darker. Fahrenheit was launched in 1988 and is definitely considered to be a classic mens fragrance. For some reason I’m really drawn to more masculine vibes right now, so the idea of something like this definitely had an appeal.

Fragrance Review - Zara Vibrant Leather

I wouldn’t normally be interested in own brand fragrances from the high street, but I’d heard some mutterings that Zara’s offerings were surprisingly good, so figured I’d give a couple a whirl. Although listed on the website at £19.99 for 120ml of Eau de Parfum, I picked mine up in store for £12.99, so Vibrant Leather is nothing if not good value for money! So even if this is mediocre, you can’t really go wrong with it right?

The perfumer who created Vibrant Leather for Zara is Jerome Epinette. Other brands he’s created fragrances for include Atelier Cologne, who I’m a huge fan of, with Clementine California being on of my top summer fragrances, and Musc Impériale, which has become one of my favourite scents for Autumn.

Fragrance Review - Elysium by Roja Dove

Last year, when I first decided I wanted to learn more about fragrances, I thought that designer was the best you could get. I had no idea that there was additional tiers to try. I attended a couple of launches from fragrance houses I’d never heard of, but what I experienced blew my mind. This was my introduction into the world of ‘niche fragrances’.

This time last year, out of he blue, I received an email asking if I wanted to try the new offering from Roja Dove... Elysium.

Fragrance Review - Ferrari Essence Oud

Oud fragrances are getting more and more popular, with loads of fragrance houses releasing their own take on the woody scent.

Being still quite a beginner in terms of fragrance, my collection is lacking in certain areas. One of those was Oud. As a strong woody, masculine note, I was keen to get something in time for the cooler weather, when I stumbled across a few reviews of Ferrari’s Essence Oud.
