I mentioned in my New Years blog post that I’d ordered my 2010 Book. Well it arrived today, and as happens every year I do this, I’m really pleased with where I am with my work when compared to this time last year. That’s not to say I’m happy with where I am though, far from it! I’m often frustrated when I look at my work, because I know I can do better. This is a positive thing, however, as it pushes me to work harder and improve. If I was completely satisfied all the time, why bother to get better? One of the other noticeable things about my latest book is the size! Stacked up with my previous years I can definitely see a pattern… my work is improving because I’m shooting more images!
So how many more images are we talking? Well it’s not quite as simple as that. I’m actually shooting less images per shoot, but I’m doing way more shoots. The important thing is to seize any opportunity you can, whether it’s paid or for personal. Back in 2009 I blogged about my iPhone photos, and you can see more of my recent shots on my tumblr. The iPhone has really opened my eyes to the amount of potential photos there are out there. I recently got myself an Olympus PEN which I’m planning to use to take this even further by taking it everywhere I go.
Anyway, the moral of the blog, is to do more! So on that note, I shall leave you with a couple of shots of my new book. I can’t wait to see what’s going to be in next years!
Looks good Jay, I ordered mine too, got delivered on Monday.
It’s good when you take a year’s photos and pull the best ones together, it’s surprising how much you can do in a year and reminds you of how good a year it’s been.
Here’s to bigger and better in 2011!
