Making my own Swiss Army Knife

As I’ve gotten older, despite my best efforts, apparently it’s inevitable that I’m going to turn into my parents. My Dad has always been into old movies, and history, and as time’s gone on, I’ve found myself more and more into learning about the history of things, and being drawn to anything with tradition and heritage.

A couple of weeks ago, I was spending a day out and about at press days, and whilst at Modus PR, I spotted their Victorinox display, with a bunch of pieces and tools in the corner. Turns out, they were giving the opportunity to make your very own Swiss Army Knife! Unfortunately for me, the guy was on his lunch break, but they offered to take my details, and rearrange for me to visit their flagship store on New Bond Street to not only make my own, but also to have it personalised. How could I say no?

Why I’m Choosing to Wear my Apple Watch Less

Back in September, I did a review of my Apple Watch Series 2. I mentioned in that post that I always felt compelled to wear it, at the expense of aesthetics, due to functionality and the fitness data it collects, which has been amazing for my continued health and weight loss mission. Well recently, with me questioning how invested I am in the Apple ecosystem, I’ve begun to wear my Apple Watch a lot less.

As I said in my review, the Apple Watch is an amazing piece of tech, and I do love it. It’s also really helped to change my life and get me to a point where I’m relatively happy with my body image and my general state of health, so I’m still glad I own it.

Fragrance Review - 4711 Original Eau de Cologne

I never expected to be reviewing one of the oldest fragrances available, and on top of that, I never expected it to be available so cheaply! 4711 is advertised as the ‘original eau de cologne’ and whilst there is supposedly an Italian fragrance that’s older, this one actually comes from Cologne, Germany, so it definitely wins in that department!

I stumbled upon a review of 4711 when looking for light gym fragrances, and given the price, I figured I’d give it a try, so yet another Amazon blind buy to add to my collection.

Fragrance Review - Zara Tobacco Collection : Rich/Warm/Addictive

The second of my Zara fragrance purchases, was Rich/Warm/Addictive from the Tobacco Collection. This is a steal at £12.99 for 100ml, assuming it’s any good. I’ve been focussing on building up my collection with scents to wear in the colder months. The vast majority of my shelf is fresh citrussy options, so as the winter gets ever nearer, I need some more appropriate things to wear. Apparently, there are other fragrances in the Tobacco Collection, but in store, I could only see this one. I wish they’d have given this a name slightly easier to remember. Far too many words going on!

Decisions Decisions - Smart Phones and Ecosystems

I’m in a quandary! We live in a connected smart phone world and the device you choose, is the one you’re going to have to live with day in and day out, come rain or shine… so it’s important to make the right decision!

I’ve always been an iPhone guy. I had the LG Prada phone back in 2007, before the iPhone was released in the UK, and then since then, I’ve only ever had Apple products. Obviously I’ve been aware of other brands of device, but I’ve never really been interested in them… until now!

Fragrance Review - Zara Vibrant Leather

I wouldn’t normally be interested in own brand fragrances from the high street, but I’d heard some mutterings that Zara’s offerings were surprisingly good, so figured I’d give a couple a whirl. Although listed on the website at £19.99 for 120ml of Eau de Parfum, I picked mine up in store for £12.99, so Vibrant Leather is nothing if not good value for money! So even if this is mediocre, you can’t really go wrong with it right?

The perfumer who created Vibrant Leather for Zara is Jerome Epinette. Other brands he’s created fragrances for include Atelier Cologne, who I’m a huge fan of, with Clementine California being on of my top summer fragrances, and Musc Impériale, which has become one of my favourite scents for Autumn.
