Fragrance Review - Atelier Cologne Musc Impérial

Of all the fragrances in my ever expanding collection, one of my favourites is by Atelier Cologne. I picked up my bottle of Clementine California at the airport before heading off to New York for work, and it’s one of the scents I wore most over the summer. If you like fresh citrusy vibes, you really need to check it out!

Anyway, I was super excited then Atelier Cologne asked if I wanted to try one of their other fragrances. A few days later and I had a bottle of the 2015 released Musc Impérial, along with a second bottle of Clementine California! Yay!!!!!

She’s Alive!

I posted last week about my dead gaming PC, and that I had gone back to the motherboard seller. Well I ended up returning it via Amazon and requesting a refund. They said they need to test it, which will take 7-10 days, but I was pretty confident that it was the motherboard at fault. In fact, I was so confident that I actually just ordered a replacement anyway, which arrived just under a week ago.

I decided to stick with the same brand, because by and large, the reviews seem pretty decent. Plus there’s more chance the cables will be in roughly the same place, and that makes it way quicker and less fussy to install the new one. I did, however, decide on a different model, just in case lightning chose to strike twice!

Are old digital cameras still viable in 2018? - Canon Powershot S2 IS

The Canon Powershot S2 IS is a bit of a key moment in my photography history. Despite having used SLR’s with film, my digital camera journey by 2005 had limited me in terms of versatility and creativity. I had been using my Fuji FinePix 2800 Zoom up until this point, which wasn’t the best, albeit ok for the time. Back then I was working as a graphic designer, having not yet realised that photography was my true passion. My then boss Nick, who hired me because he loved photography and I had a whole section of my design portfolio full of photos decided that for ‘work purposes’ we should take a day trip to the NEC to Focus on Imaging.

Whilst wandering around the vast halls of the NEC and marvelling at a world I knew little about, I ended up impulse buying the Canon Powershot S2 IS at some sort of discounted show price, but I forget how much I actually paid.

Fragrance Review - Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme

Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme was the first mens fragrance launched by the house back in 1971. Wanting to challenge the traditional notions of masculinity, Yves Saint Laurent chose to pose nude for the advertising campaign. Magnum photographer Jeanloup Sieff shot 14 images of the iconic designer sitting on leather cushions wearing nothing but his eye glasses. All this coincided with Saint Laurent’s unveiling of his 1940’s collection, which shocked the fashion world and probably paved the way for many of todays designers.

A complete blind buy from TK Maxx for a super bargain price, all I had to go by were the notes. On this occasion, the notes are actually stamped onto the side of the bottle, which is the first time I’ve seen that. Being a fragrance from 47 years ago, Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme has undoubtedly had reformulations, although I don’t know how many or when, let alone how close to the original this current iteration is. It’s definitely had some presentation changes over the years, however.

Apple Watch Review

I’m a self confessed Apple junkie. I’ve well and truly bought into their eco-system. Back in late 2016 I added to my collection, the newly released Apple Watch Series 2. I realise I’m late to the party with this review since not only has it been replaced by the Series 3, but that’s been replaced by the Series 4! Having said all that, I have now had 2 years experience with the concept of ‘wearable tech’, so as much as this will be review of the Apple Watch, I’m also going to talk about how I feel about smart watches in general.

Fragrance Review - Diesel Bad Intense

The vast majority of the fragrances I own are all ones I’ve bought myself, however, this bottle of Diesel Bad Intense was sent to me in the middle of last year, long before I knew anything about what I liked or didn’t like, or even what notes were.

This is a 2017 launch, and is a flanker to the 2016 release of Diesel Bad. It’s advertised as a ‘spicy oriental fougère’ that ‘exudes tough virility’, which is definitely a departure from most recent releases that focus on aromatic freshness.
