Choosing the Right Hiking Boots

One of my New Years resolutions for last year was to be more like James Bond. As I said in my blog post about it, in any situation he’s capable and ready for whatever comes his way. It’s a very masculine trait, and for the brief time I was in the cub scouts as a kid, I remember the motto as ‘be prepared’.

I’ve never been one for ‘hiking’. I love walking, and will spend all day wandering cities around the world, but trekking through the outdoors has just never really been a huge part of my life. Not because I’m adverse to it, it’s just never happened all that often. The result of that is a serious lack of the right gear, notably footwear!

Fifty Shades of Jay - Designing my new wardrobe

I’ve been on this weight loss journey for a couple of years now, and it’s been overwhelmingly positive. I have more confidence than ever before, and even though my body isn’t quite where I want it to be, I know that, as long as I keep doing what I’m doing, it’s only a matter of time. There is one con to all of this, however… none of my old clothes fit me anymore!

I’m a big fan of making the most out of a situation, so decided to take the opportunity to but myself a capsule wardrobe for the winter months and redesign my style in the process.

Why I’m Choosing to Wear my Apple Watch Less

Back in September, I did a review of my Apple Watch Series 2. I mentioned in that post that I always felt compelled to wear it, at the expense of aesthetics, due to functionality and the fitness data it collects, which has been amazing for my continued health and weight loss mission. Well recently, with me questioning how invested I am in the Apple ecosystem, I’ve begun to wear my Apple Watch a lot less.

As I said in my review, the Apple Watch is an amazing piece of tech, and I do love it. It’s also really helped to change my life and get me to a point where I’m relatively happy with my body image and my general state of health, so I’m still glad I own it.

Childhood Nostalgia

Maybe it’s a mid life crisis, I’m on a bit of a nostalgia trip right now. It’s fun looking back at some of the things you did or enjoyed during your childhood. As a kid you do what you like, rather than what others think is cool. It’s something that’s missing in this modern social media world. So I’ve been looking back at who I used to be, and getting back in touch with my inner child.

What’s amazed me is how many aspects of my life growing up are still relevant to the things I’m interested now. This post is quite long, so I recommend getting a cup of your favourite childhood beverage, sitting back and coming on a journey with me through some of the things that have defined me as a person, and what I plan to embrace more of in the future!

Fragrance Review - Lapidus Pour Homme

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again... I really must stop blind buying fragrances off Amazon! One day I’ll be caught out and get something horrendous!

I saw a couple of reviews for Lapidus Pour Homme online and they all say not to blind buy this, but apparently I’m crap at taking advice, plus it’s pretty cheap so what the hell?

Pleasingly Priced Peacoat Perfection

I’m very impulsive when it comes to shopping. It’s why I suck at buying things online. I much prefer to wander around aimlessly and then grab something that catches my eye!

I went out last Saturday because I wanted some black leather gloves (turns out, not as easy to get as you might think!). Anyway, I’ve been a bit of a New Look convert of late. My favourite ripped black jeans are from New Look and I wear them all the time! Whilst making a beeline for the accessories rack for some gloves, I caught this Peacoat out of the corner of my eye.
