Fragrance Review - 4711 Original Eau de Cologne

I never expected to be reviewing one of the oldest fragrances available, and on top of that, I never expected it to be available so cheaply! 4711 is advertised as the ‘original eau de cologne’ and whilst there is supposedly an Italian fragrance that’s older, this one actually comes from Cologne, Germany, so it definitely wins in that department!

I stumbled upon a review of 4711 when looking for light gym fragrances, and given the price, I figured I’d give it a try, so yet another Amazon blind buy to add to my collection.

Fragrance Review - Atelier Cologne Clementine California

I’d never heard of Atelier Cologne before my trip to New York, but that all changed when got to the airport before my flight. I deliberately arrived early to spend a lot of time in Duty Free trying out fragrances and learning about what I liked and didn’t light. It was super informative, and you can read all about it here.

Whilst wandering around the fragrance offerings that Heathrow’s Terminal 5 had to offer, I made a friend in one of the sales assistants in the Tom Ford concession. She became my guide, and was amazing!

What I’m Learning About This Month

I always think it’s important to have a curious mind. Anyone that knows me has probably been bored by my endless supply of largely useless facts and trivia. It pains me to say it, but I’m ‘that guy’ 🤦🏻‍♂️.

I love learning, it’s definitely my ‘thing’. I don’t really like studying or being tested in a formal context, but learning, hearing about, and seeing how things work makes me happy. Last year, my big thing was learning about how the human body works in relation to nutrition, which led me on to learning about hormones and the endocrine system. A while back I learned about latte art and milk foam. I really like etymology and learning about the history of words, and how they came to be. I think it’s important to know something about everything. I’m by no means an expert on any of this stuff... more of an amateur enthusiast 😂

Green Clean

One of the problems I face as someone who takes a lot of photos and changes lenses on my cameras fairly frequently is sensor dust. Thankfully, my Olympus OM-D is pretty good on dust due to the smaller sensor than my Hasselblad, which can be a nightmare, but recently I noticed several spots on my images.

Thankfully, whilst at Photokina last week, I passed by a stand who were more than happy to give my little camera the once over. I hate cleaning my camera's sensors. I have a severe paranoia about scratching them. I've been told it's easy, but I have scratched the sensor on my Hasselblad before, so I'd rather not take any chances and leave it to the professionals!

Photokina 2012

So literally 2 hours after getting home from my final engagement at London Fashion Week, I was up and getting ready for my trip to Cologne, Germany for Hasselblad.

After getting to Stansted I tucked into an awesome pancake breakfast, where Mark from Hasselblad presented me with a small gift of an Olympus OM book he found at a car boot sale... Thanks Mark!
