Carnivore Diet - Week Ten
A bit late with my week 10 update, but thankfully I have all the notes, so here goes! I’m actually not sure what the end game of this is. I didn’t expect to feel as good as I do, so I’m not sure if it’s going to end. I’ve always said I’ll do it for as long as I feel good, or I just want to stop, and currently, neither of those are the case, so I guess I’ll be sticking at it for the foreseeable future.
This week marks the official 2 month point of eating zero carb carnivore, and aside from feeling great, the weight is literally just falling off me! I’ve been on a weight loss mission for years, but this is probably the easiest and most consistent period of weight loss I’ve had. I’m also able to eat more food than I was a year ago, which considering I have less mass, makes no sense using conventional wisdom. I’m also not getting ravenously hungry as much. I still get hungry, I mean I’m only human, but it’s not a raging hunger that consumes me. For the most part I can just ignore it and eat at a time that suits me, rather than arranging my whole life around food.
I’ve discovered that I’m better on beef than pork. It’s not so much that pork disagrees with me, it’s just that I seem to digest beef more easily. To that end, I’ve been cooking a lot more roast beef, although I do still enjoy roast pork with crackling. I’m going to experiment with the cooking of the pork a bit more, as I’ve read that it could be to do with fat vs rendered fat, but that’s about as much as I know on that, so time will tell.
I’ve found I’m cooking beef rarer and rarer over time. Obviously I’m not gonna go to fully raw meat, but with a lack of sauce or gravy, it’s more important than ever that you don’t overcook meat as it dries out. I also prefer the taste when it’s on the rarer side.
I had a lunch meeting in the city, and was greeted by the usual confusion by the waiting staff when I asked for just the meat, and once again, was promptly ignored as they brought it with all the chips. Thankfully, I was with someone who was more than happy to have some extra chips, so it wasn’t too much of a big deal. The only other annoyance was that I asked for the Ribeye, but was served Sirloin. I figured they assumed I wouldn’t notice, but hey, I’m getting to be a bit or a steak connoisseur these days! Hahaha
I’ve been reading up a lot about nutrition as I want to make sure I get all the nutrients I need, and supposedly there’s health benefits in things like raw and fermented dairy, so I experimented with some of those this week. You can read about my experiences here.
10 weeks down, and still going strong! If you have any questions about the zero carb meat only carnivore diet, leave them in the comments below.
