Tesco Home Delivery
I don't ask for much in life, and I hate complaining, but lately it seems that the notion "you get what you pay for" is completely false.
Since moving to East London, I've been using Tesco's home delivery service for my food shopping. 3 weeks ago I had a phone call as I was on my way back home from an irate driver outside my flat complaining that I wasn't their for my delivery. I hate being late so my immediate reaction was panic until I realised that the driver was more than half an hour early for my scheduled delivery, and that I wasn't late at all!
2 weeks ago, my delivery was not only an hour late, but when it did arrive, the driver was unapologetic and rude. He also slammed the door hard on the way out.
Tonight was the last straw. My delivery was scheduled for 7-8pm. I waited in, excited for the things I'd ordered for tonight's dinner, only for the scheduled delivery time to come and go without a peep from my door buzzer. I phoned Tesco customer services and after it ringing for 10mins I finally spoke to someone who said she would phone straight back after speaking to the driver. There was no call back. I then had a rant on twitter as it seems to be the only way to get any response these days. The Tesco twitter account responded and after about an hour said that they couldn't get hold of the driver. By now it was half past ten, I was starving and angry. I phoned customer services again... waited on hold for another 10 minutes before having the same conversation again with a different operator. So turns out my delivery driver is ignoring his phone and I won't be getting my shopping. Despite Tesco's stores being open 24 hours a day, they won't deliver past 11pm, even if It was supposed to be delivered at 7pm! Even worse is that according to my account on the website, my order has been "delivered"! I don't know who they're trying to fool?
Initially, they just said they'd reschedule. Well sorry, but I booked it for tonight for a reason... if I wanted it next week I would have booked it for next week! Upon telling them to cancel the entire order, I was offered a £10 e-coupon to use on my next order, and after I said I was never ordering again it rose to £20 (in the form of two £10 e-coupons, which probably can't be used at the same time!). Shame they'll never be used as I will never use Tesco home delivery ever again!!! I refuse to give my money to a company that consistently makes a mess of every order. It's not rocket science. I order the food, I pay for the food, they deliver the food? Apparently that's too hard for Tesco.
As I said at the start of this blog, I don't ask for much, but when I pay for a service, the very minimum I expect is to get what I paid for... Unfortunately, that seems to happen less and less these days
